Sunday and Monday

hey everyone! sorry i know its been a while since i updated things have been absolutely crazy. thank you so much for all the comments i really enjoyed reading them! Sunday we went to Meme's Rio, which is an area that is a dump site where people have built houses out of any materials they could find. We also went to Casa Hogar Douglas in the morning for church which was incredible watching all the kids praising god. they have the strongest faith which totally amazes me because they literally have nothing and yet their faith is so strong. It really makes you think of everything that you have and we always want more and more and i look at these kids and they share clothes they dont have parents or their own room or anythign to call their own, and yet they could not be happier. When we were at Memes Rio we served the people food, it was hamburger meat and potatoes and carrots on a tosdata which is like a big tortilla. it was actually really good. it was amazing serving these women and their children becasue they were so grateful and so appreciative. it made me feel so good to be able to give to them the things they really need. we got to go to pollo loco which is a chicken restaurant on sunday and it was soo good! we love going there they have the best chips and salsa.

monday we went to a childrens home called ERJ. we did the ropes course which was a lot of fun. us interns didnt participate we let the groups do it, but it was fun to watch their team work. We did the leap of faith and yes i actually did it, i jumped out of a tree harnessed to a rope that was 50 feet high. it was so fun but incredibly scary. we also had a birthday party for the kids of ERJ who were born betweeen January and June. I got to see Santiago, a now 3 year old who was a baby the first week i ever came down here. that was so much fun. last time i saw him he couldnt even talk, and now he is walking talking and of course a little trouble maker. :) everthing else is going really good! today is my day off so i have been able to relax and i got to sleep in so that was really awesome. please keep commenting, i am going to be able to blog every night from now on so please check it out whenever you get a chance! thank you for all your support!

  1. Hi Victoria,
I am really enjoying reading each day about your trip. I am glad you are there to brighten up the children's lives. I am soooo proud of you. It really makes me think about needs vs wants especially since you told us the kids share clothes but are still so happy and having a strong faith, praising God. Amazing! Just want you to know that you are touching our lives back here as well as all those children in Mexico.
    Love you, Deej

  3. Hey girl,

I know that had to be hard to see what people can call a "home". It really makes us realize what we have here and what we take for granted, huh?! I bet you are awesome at what you are doing over there! WHAT?? I couldn't even get you to parasail with me on SB in Fl- i can't believe you did that!! Being a lil risk taker. lol. I am happy that you are there making a big difference in children's lives! Miss and love you! Be safe!
Ps. have you seen Juanita yet?? I wanna hear all about her! ;)

    XoXo
