June 9th
today was crazy. we went to a childrens home called imperio de amor and worked all day in the like 115 degrees. it was hot. my group moved a huge mound of dirt to level another area it was hard work. we got six people plus me and another intern anna to do our project. at 315 all the group members, including the group leader, except one quit working and said they were done for the day even though we were no where near done. how frustrating. i was so discouraged by this and so disappointed and i didnt understand if you are coming down to serve god why are you quitting on him? it was just really aggrivating. on a happier note, tonights worship was amazing. we each got to pray individually with staff members for differnt problems and struggles we are going through and for the first time in a long time i feel at peace about some things that i never thought i would be at peace with. i am so glad to be down here and see how god is going to change my life and hopefuly the lives of some of these kids down here. it is amazing the amount of power that god has and how much he is willing to do for his children. please continue praying for us as we are all doing gods work and trying to help groups be motivated to do his work also, even when it is hard to do.

Victoria,
ReplyDeleteI am sure that was very frustrating. If a group signed up to come down and serve with Back2Back they know what they are getting into. It is not as if it was a shock when they get there that they are going to be asked to do some very difficult work in very difficult conditions. Why come down if you are not willing to work for the good of the people down there? I don't get it etiher. BUT...... what can you do except keep trying to encourage them and keep working hard yourself. Lead by example, not just by how hard you work but lead them to be stronger and grow in there faith. YOU CAN DO THIS!! You have taught me so much over the last few years. Remember always reminding me that it isn't my plan it is GODS plan.
I am really excited to her about you getting to pray with staff members individually about personal things and I am REALLY HAPPY to hear that you have worked through some things. I am so very proud of you and I will continue to pray for you, Adam, and all of the other interns and the the groups that are down there. I continue to pray for the children and the entire Back2Back staff. I love you with all my heart!

Tori,
ReplyDeleteI'm really happy to hear that you are able to come to peace with things that have had you tied up inside. That alone, is an experience to over come! I bet it's so neat to pray with the children and teach them how to pray, then see them be able to talk to God and pray themselves. ( i know you didn't mention that in your blog, just saying lol). Congrats on finishing week one, enjoy your time on your outing!
love ya
